Bing Places for Business lets eligible businesses manage the information customers see in Bing's local results. Adding or claiming a basic listing is free.

This tutorial walks through the task from finding an existing listing to checking the published result. Bing's interface and verification options can vary by business and country, so use the route presented in your own account.

Before you begin

Prepare your business name, contact number, website, operating hours, category and accurate location or service-area information. Have access to the business account you will use for ongoing management.

If you plan to import from Google, first check your Google Business Profile for outdated hours, wrong numbers or old addresses. Importing inaccurate information simply creates another place to fix it.

Step 1 Check whether the business is already listed

Search Bing Maps for your business name and town or city. Open any matching result and compare its details with your actual business.

Write down whether the location is yours, whether the information is correct and whether there are duplicate entries. This helps you choose between claiming a listing and adding a new one.

Step 2 Open Bing Places for Business

Go to Bing Places for Business. Microsoft may direct you to its newer Bing for Business interface. Sign in and choose the option to add or manage a business.

Use the business's own account and keep its recovery details current. Review the official Bing Places help if the available route differs from the steps below.

Step 3 Claim the match or create a new listing

Use the search or matching process presented during setup. Claim the matching business if it already exists. If it is genuinely absent, follow the new-business route.

Where Google import is offered, you can use it as an alternative to typing the details. Review the requested access and import settings first. Microsoft's help explains that matched listings can have their information overwritten by Google data, so choose the source you intend to maintain.

Step 4 Review every important field

Check the name, category, phone, website and hours. Confirm the map position for a customer-facing location.

If you travel to customers, follow the service-area and address visibility options available for your business type. Check what will become public before saving. Do not invent a staffed office or use a borrowed address to appear in another city.

A useful review is to compare each field with the contact page on your website. Resolve real differences rather than copying an outdated detail just to make everything match.

Step 5 Complete the offered verification

Follow the verification instructions displayed in your account. The available method can depend on your listing, so do not assume every business gets a postcard, call or instant approval.

Read the status after submission. Record any remaining action and who will complete it. A saved form is not the same as a published, verified listing.

Step 6 Check what customers can see

Once the listing is published, search Bing again. Open the business result and test the website destination. Check the location, phone and hours on a phone as well as a computer.

Keep a note of the account that controls the listing. Add Bing to your update checklist when the business moves, changes hours or replaces a phone number.

If something is not working

There is a duplicate: identify which listing represents the real business and use the available reporting or support process. Avoid making another replacement entry.

The listing is already managed: use the ownership or access process shown by Bing. Involve the current business owner where possible.

Imported details keep changing: review the source listing and synchronization settings. Update the source deliberately instead of repeatedly correcting a destination that is overwritten.

Completion checklist

Tick each item as you complete it. Your checks stay on this page until you leave or reload.
