Connecting your business Instagram account to your Facebook page helps you manage the two together. The important part is connecting the correct business page, especially if you manage several accounts.
This tutorial uses the Instagram app route. It connects an existing professional Instagram account to an existing Facebook page. The connection itself is free and does not start an advertising campaign.
Before you begin
You need your business Instagram login and access to manage the intended Facebook page. If someone else controls the page, ask them to check your access before you start.
First complete our Instagram business account tutorial and Facebook page tutorial if either account is missing. Write down the exact Instagram username and Facebook page name so you can compare them during setup.
Step 1 Open the Instagram business profile
Sign into Instagram and switch to the business account you want to connect. Open its profile and confirm the username at the top of the screen.
Tap Edit profile. In the business profile information area, look for Page. The wording can differ by account type or app version.
Step 2 Choose the existing Facebook page
Open the Page setting and choose the option to connect an existing Facebook page. Sign into Facebook if prompted, using the account that has the appropriate page access.
Select the intended business page from the available list and confirm. Read the connection and access prompts before accepting them, particularly where inbox access is included.
Meta's help on linking a professional account and Facebook page provides the current app instructions. If Page is absent from your editing screen, use that help route rather than creating another page just to proceed.
Step 3 Check the recorded connection
Return to Edit profile and check which Facebook page is listed. The displayed name should match the business page you wrote down before starting.
For example, a fictional company called Foothills Fence Repair should see its business page connected, rather than the owner's personal Facebook profile or another company's page they help manage.
Step 4 Check Meta Business Suite
Open Meta Business Suite and select the correct business or page. Check that the expected Facebook and Instagram identities are available.
If Meta asks you to review the connection or sign into Instagram again, follow the prompts for your own accounts. A business portfolio ownership or permission issue may need the current owner to resolve it.
Step 5 Review sharing settings separately
A connected page does not mean you should automatically share everything to both platforms. Review the destination each time you create content. A Facebook post with a long website link may need a different caption for Instagram.
Before scheduling your first post, check both account names in the publishing controls. Save a draft first if you are unsure; you do not need to publish a test message to confirm the account labels.
If something is not working
The page is missing from the list
Confirm that you signed into the Facebook account with page access. Ask the owner to check the access granted to you. Managing posts and managing account connections can require different permissions.
The wrong page is already connected
Record the existing connection and check who relies on it before changing it. Account connections can affect tools and workflows. Follow Meta's disconnect and reconnect instructions with the business owner rather than repeatedly switching accounts.
The account appears connected but publishing fails
Check the specific error, account status and connection prompts in Meta Business Suite. Reconfirm the intended account and permissions before retrying. Do not share passwords with someone offering an unofficial fix.
Completion checklist
Tick each item as you complete it. Your checks stay on this page until you leave or reload.
